Getting dirty

Sunday morning was spent outside in the sunshine. I finally got motivated to bring out Colin's baby pool and he had fun splashing around and getting muddy. Evan was fishing all day but we were able to join him at the end of the afternoon for a quick boat cruise. Colin enjoyed looking at all the boats in the marina and seemed to enjoy the ride...he just sat in my lap looking at his surroundings. Here are some pictures of Colin in his baby pool.

Saturday afternoon

Colin and I were invited to Gabby's 2nd birthday party. Gabby's mom, Lyndsay, is in my Mom's play group. She happens to live on Palmira st. which is 3 doors down from the house I lived in from when I was 11 until I left for college. I always like going to her house as it gives me an excuse to drive by our old house, and I actually met the new residents at her party! Anyways, Colin had a great time, except when I tried to put a birthday party hat on him...

Colin's temper tantrums happen pretty often nowadays, but I can normally cut them off by distracting him, ignoring him or just giving into whatever he wants....in this case the hat came off pretty quickly and he was happily playing as soon as it was gone!

What we've been up to the last week..

Evan had the whole weekend off, so we were able to squeeze in some family time. We spent the morning at the pool and the YMCA and a good part of the day running errands. On Saturday night, Evan and I were able to get away for a preanniversary celebration. It's hard to believe it's already been 3 years. We have a new babysitter, Ebie, who's now watched Colin a few times and I feel comfortable with her abilities. He's really so easy, I can't complain. He doesn't even cry when we leave, he's happy to have someone new to play with! Of course, my dad or mom is preferred, but it is a good alternative when they are unavailable.

He loves playing with his car in the driveway every afternoon

All because two people fell in love!

Colin's 1st skinned knee!

Colin's love a playing ball continues to grow everyday...he now has a basketball, dodge ball, soccer ball, and football in his collection, along with an assortment of bouncy balls. Lately, his greeting to my dad and our housekeeper, Pauline is "ball". He wants them to go outside and play ball with him as soon as he sees them.
The last few times I've taken Colin for a bike ride, he wasn't too pleased, but yesterday I gave him a ball to play with  and I didn't hear a peep the whole ride.....give the boy a ball and he's happy!

15 month check up

Colin had his 15 month check up today,  and he left with an A + from the pediatrician!
He currently weights...
25 lbs , which puts him in the 54th percentile for weight
33 inches long, which puts him in the 93rd percentile for height
head circumference was 19 and 1/2, which puts him in the 90th percentile. Not sure what this really means?

I remember in the first few months of Colin's life, I'd go to the pediatrician with a list of questions. I was always so nervous that I was doing something wrong and needed reassurance, even though I already knew the answers to most of my questions. Now, over a year later, I go in there with hardly any questions and a lot more confidence, phew!

New things Colin is doing this month:
He loves to play ball, and walks around the house saying "ball" over and over again.
He is understanding more and more. The other day I told him to go see what his Opa was doing, and he walked right to Opa's bedroom door to see him.
He LOVES to throw. and he likes to throw EVERYTHING!
Enjoys turning the pages on all his books.
He likes to explore in his new play house.
Can bring me toys that I identify. For example, when he's in the bath tub, if I say " Colin where is your boat?", he will find it and hand it to me.
Knows these body parts and will identify them when I ask- nose, mouth, belly button, feet and toes.
Will give you kisses if you ask for them.
Likes me to sing to him at bedtime.
He is getting at least 2 new teeth right now- the incisors, which I think hurt a lot but he takes it pretty well.
Every afternoon before dinner, he likes to play in the back yard. I pull out his toy push car, power wheels and a couple of balls and he entertains himself for quite some time.
He likes to pick up rocks from the driveway.
Has started spending 30 minutes in the Y daycare while I go to the fitness area to work out, we do this about 4 times a week. He cries at first but is happily playing when I return.
Says "hello" into his play phones.

This month we were instructed to wean Colin off his bottle ( he currently has one at night before bed and when he wakes up in the morning). He LOVES his bottles, so I've been reluctant to take them away, I figure the milk is good for him and who cares what type of cup it comes from? I doubt he'll go to college with a bottle....but I AM tired of cleaning them, and I know it's now or later, so we'll see how this goes! I'm sure like everything else in Colin's life, he will transition with ease and my apprehension will be in vain.

Lastly, a couple more pictures from our Easter outing on Monday.
A rare Mommy and Colin picture, of course it is next to impossible to get one where he is looking.

Isn't he gorgeous? this kid should be a baby model.

Easter Egg Hunt....Round 1

Today our Mom's group had an Easter egg hunt at Picnic Island Beach Park. We hid eggs around the playground and then let the kids go hunt. Colin seemed to get the general idea, but most of the time he just wanted to take the eggs out of his basket.
