Weekend favs
Life is all about the small things...here is a list of my favorite things from our weekend, in no particular order.
Mid day naps with Evan= heaven
Gator bombs and margherita pizza at our new favorite place.
Our morning at the beach.
Girl chat and drinks on the balcony with my girl Natalie.
A really random but suprisingly enjoyable Saturday night movie.
Chipotle chicken Fridays
Breaking in my new jeans
Looking forward to cooking this soon!
P.S. Let me note this date in history that today was the day I sent Evan to the grocery store and he did not buy anything that was NOT on the list :)

Currently...
The natives know...
the best time to go to the beach is now!
With October almost upon us, it's easy to want to think about trips to the pumpkin patch and Halloween costumes, but the reality is in Florida it's just not feeling like fall yet. September and October are the best times to go to the beach. The Gulf was at a perfect tempature, and there are no big crowds. I'm so glad my mom thought to make a trip to the beach this morning. We treated ourselves to a few chairs and umbrella at the Don Cesar hotel and enjoyed playing in the sand, splashing in the water and root beer floats from the pool restaurant. My water baby had a ball.
This made me excited for our trip next month to Boca Grande. It will be our first time there and I'm so looking forward to staying in this beautiful hotel, taking rides on our boat, and having some more beach days like today!

Go gators!
I love dressing Colin up for game day. Maybe this year I can teach him the gator chomp!
Speaking of football, Colin's love of playing ball continues to grow...his favorite thing is to be outside playing ball which includes playing basketball, throwing the ball esp up on the garage roof and watching it roll down, and I recently got him a big bat to start learning baseball. He also recently learned how to throw up the ball and kick it with his foot...maybe a future Gator punter?
Luckily for Evan, Colin's second favorite word behind ball is boat and he is always pointing them out when he sees one. He also becomes quite mesmerized when Evan watches the fishing channel. It will be quite interesting to see if these 2 interests will become big hobbies for him.

Bathroom humor
This really speaks to me lately. Let me give you a peek into bathroom antics with Colin...
I can only shower at night after he's in bed or nap time. Otherwise, he comes in the shower with me.
If I'm sitting at my vanity trying to put on makeup, Colin wants to climb up on my lap and play with all my make up, including whatever I'm trying to apply at the time.
If I'm brushing my teeth or washing my hands, he wants to pull up his stool and do the same.
And the clencher...when I'm actually USING the bathroom, he is right there in front of me, demanding to see what's going on or more specifically tearing off pieces of toilet paper to throw in WHILE I'm trying to do my business!
I know I'll be nostalgic for these days when he's grown and won't want much to do with his mom, but I don't think I'll miss this.

Dining out with a 1 year old
Here are some iPhone photos...going out to eat or anywhere for that matter with Colin requires an arsenal of distractions...some tried and true things to keep him occupied at restaurants are a cup of ice, crayons and paper, my sunglasses and since evan is working so much it's always great to have Grandmary there too!

The terrible two's are here already
Yes, he has a smile on his face and loves to run around in the water, but man on man his mood can change FAST. The mind of a toddler is quite a mystery. One second Colin could be laughing, then crying and screaming, then laughing again...all in a minute's time span. I can handle it 95% of the time, I've learned how to manage him, but then there are nights like tonight. Maybe he could sense I had been distracted these last few days, but he was quite the whiner before dinner. Then, when I sat him in his high chair, he wanted nothing to do with his dinner..NOTHING ( where this stuborness comes from I have no idea), but after many failed attempts and finally letting him out of his seat, he goes straight for the pantry for what he really wants....and thus the epic struggle begins.
Ultimately he went to bed early without dinner, and as soon as I took him upstairs the crying and tantrums stopped and he let me hold him in the rocking chair. The previous 30 minutes melted away and I was so happy to have a tired toddler that just wanted to be loved on and put to bed....now was he tired in the first place and that was the reason for the tantrums/refusal to eat,or did the tantrums wear him out? who knows!

Swim gear
Colin loves his new arm floaties, he is so independent in the pool with these on. I also told him to fly after I took this pic and he enthusiastically lifted his arms up in the air, so cute!
